The "Hommage to Eileen Grey" is a reminiscence of an excellent designer, who worked in the twenties til the fifties of the last century. Many of her designs are still produced today.  Someone, who knows her works, can easily recognise the deduction from it. Despite this, the Munich designer Danilo Silvestrin has designed with the Hommage a piece of furniture, which is unmistakably a child of his time. Ordered around the year 1986, when in Germany, lightly delated, the war of the postmodernism was raging, Silvestrin concentrates on a furniture design without any attitude.

He sketches with clear lines a pleasantly transparent composition, strict in structure and absolutely new. He adds a mobile bar to the classic seating furniture, which serves as a head rest, if the piece of furniture is to be used for a lounger. Today, this cheerful nature with a wink can surely be interpreted as a concession to postmodernism, as humorous enclosures were not a matter for the modern age, released for revision. What has moved us, 20 years after the first creation, to integrate the Hommage into a current furniture collection, is strength of the expression and timelessness of this piece of furniture. Thanks to the strong connection with the classic modern age and incomparably disciplined design method of Danilo Silvestrin we could re-edit it without formal revision.
