Lepper Schmidt Sommerlade Programme 480 Chairs
The Kassel based design studio Lepper Schmidt Sommerlade has developed
a shapely and richly varied wooden chair programme for Thonet. In the
process they harmonised classic Thonet material quality with defined
functionality and thus developed a resilient four-legged solid wood
chair, which can be used in canteens and restaurants as well as in
churches, rest homes, hospitals and private dining rooms.
Variable,
practical, stackable: the solid wood chair Programme 480, made from
beech, possesses a sleek harmonically proportioned and ergonomic shape.
Together the seat, back and armrest work to provide comfortable and
secure sitting. The upholstered seat - also available with waterproof
film protection - is available with leather or fabric covers. The back
is available in moulded plywood or partially upholstered moulded
plywood. The 480 is available with or without armrests and is also
stackable, specialised stacking protection guards the wood and
upholstering from any damage.
Lepper Schmidt Sommerlade The design
studio based in Kassel is active in the area of contract furniture
development in particular. One of its trademarks is the fusion of
formal and constructive competencies. Open projects with architects,
graphic designers and artists act in inspirational interplay with the
creation of serial products. The studio has claimed numerous design
awards. After several years working as a carpenter he studied design
and architecture in Kassel. The team has already worked with Thonet to
develop the A 1700 table system and the S 840 contract chair programme.
