Martin Visser SE 05, SE 06 and SE 07 Chairs
The dining chairs SE 05, SE 06 and SE 07 were designed in 1960 by
Martin Visser. The chair is available with black, off white and natural
(caramel-coloured) synthetic cane (SE 05), black and natural saddle
leather (SE 06) and in a fabric upholstery (SE 07). The SE 05 was
originally woven from pulp cane, but in the middle of the nineties this
was replaced by synthetic cane. This was because the pulp cane that
could still be obtained in the Netherlands was not of the required
quality.
Synthetic cane is both flexible and strong. It retains its
colour and is easy to clean. Available in black, off white and natural
(caramel-coloured) synthetic cane. The dining chairs are also available
in black and natural saddle leather (SE 06). Natural leather is a non
coloured leather and will darken under the influence of light. It will
be delivered in an almost pink tone and fade into a warm cognac tone.
The time it will take to fade from a pink into a cognac tone will
depend of the amount and the kind of light, but it will take at least
several months. Saddle leather will also stretch a little over time.
Any marks on the leather should not be considered as faults. These
merely confirm the authenticity and quality of saddle leather.
The
leather seat has a lace at the bottom, which gives the possibility to
tighten the seat after a while. Synthetic cane is a strong, flexible
material. It is colour-fast and easy to clean. Available in black,
caramel-coloured and off white. The upholstered chair SE 07 can be
delivered in any fabric required. From 2003 on the seat and the back of
the SE 07 are produced in the original measurements again. This means
that seat and back are 1 cm. smaller than the chairs made between 1988
and 2003. The frames are made of matt chrome-plated metal.
