Soren Rose One Leg Down

It is obvious that the traditional kitchen chop block has acted as inspiration for the new and extremely simple pieces from Søren Rose Studio. One leg down challenges the current love for oak, cause these products are made of Danish pine, which have been "banned" for a long time. Designer Søren Rose Kjær stresses that the material excels in sustainability, due to the fact that it does not have to be transported long distances, like bamboo - the favorite wood among environmentalists.

Pine or not, it's probably the orange stripe which captures the eye. The material is plastic composite - something we traditionally find in kitchen countertops and bathroom modules, and contrasts the humble wood. "the plastic composite only represents 5 percent of the entire piece, but appear as the largest and most demanding detail." - Søren Rose Kjær about the design
