The British designer James Irvine has designed a height-adjustable bar stool for Thonet with a simple elegance that is irresistible. Its rounded foot support echoes the company's tradition in steel tube, which goes back to Bauhaus times. The seat is available as a circle or oval, in wood or upholstered, and in understated or bright colours: all this choice makes the S 123 H the perfect allrounded for private and public use.

The steel tube frame of the S 123 H rests on a round base plate. The seat height is easy to control continuously by means of a gas pressure spring, and the foot support adjusts with it. The seat is available in various wood fi nishes including beech, and upholstered qualities with individual seat covers in fabric or leather. As with all his designs for Thonet, James Irvine's aim with the S 123 H was to achieve a sensitive combination of the company's traditions with modern times.

James Irvine describes his design: "I wanted to create a bar stool in a perfectly clear design. The bar stool can have a completely different effect depending on its shape, material and colour of the seat, yet and this is the key it always remains a typical Thonet product."
