Doshi Levien Impossible Wood Chair
Reinventing a concept: a curved wooden structure which would be impossible to achieve other than by injection moulding.
The choice of material forms a prologue to a three-dimensional outcome: an eco-sustainable compound replaces plastic, making it possible to mould a wooden chair. A new recyclable, biodegradable material made entirely of plant-derived fibres and additives. Naturalness in an unprecedented form which maintains the visual and tactile qualities of wood in a moulded product.
A study is presented at the Furniture Show to demonstrate the research process undertaken by Moroso in its experiments with new materials. Future production foresees, in addition to the model moulded in wood, also the version in coloured plastic.
